The Louis Sideboard

A dialogue between opacity and transparency, weight and lightness.

Inspired by Jean Prouvé’s architectural façade panels—sheets of metal punctuated with glass inlays—the design is handcrafted from cold-rolled steel, with circular glass portholes set into each door. It has slender steel legs that elevate the frame, giving the piece architectural presence without overwhelming a space.

Master metalworkers hand-weld, burnish, and apply a protective finish to the frame to preserve its surface integrity, then set each glass porthole by hand. Soft-close door hinges ensure a seamless open and close, while adjustable shelves adapt to your needs. The inset top provides a defined surface for display.

From concept to completion, the Louis takes weeks to create—a pace that allows for precision at every stage and gives way to a piece that endures.
